Dhaka: Over 500,000 income tax returns have been filed online through the National Board of Revenue (NBR), marking a significant rise of 129 percent compared to the same period last year. As of November 24, 2023, the number of online returns filings stood at 217,471.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, more than 12.50 lakh taxpayers have registered for online income tax return filing using the e-return option on the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd portal. This registration has been undertaken voluntarily, as mentioned in an NBR press release issued today.
To facilitate the filing and payment of income tax returns for the tax year 2024-2025, the NBR has introduced an online return filing system. This system allows individual taxpayers to easily and quickly prepare and file their returns through the NBR website.
Taxpayers using this system can pay their taxes via internet banking, card payment (debit/credit card), and mobile banking. They also have the facility to download and print copies of filed returns, receipt
s, income tax certificates, and TIN certificates. Additionally, taxpayers can download and print e-Returns filed for previous years.
For any issues related to e-Returns, taxpayers can report problems through email using the eTax Service option on the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd portal, which are being resolved promptly.
Moreover, the NBR has organized training sessions as part of this initiative. Around 240 representatives from scheduled banks, mobile telecom service providers, some multinational companies, tax lawyers, and taxpayers have already received training from the authorities. The revenue authorities have urged all taxpayers to file returns online for a seamless return filing experience and hassle-free service.
