Nilphamari: Over 210,000 children in the Nilphamari district are set to receive measles vaccines during a campaign scheduled from April 20 to May 10. The initiative aims to vaccinate children aged between six months and under five years, providing the measles vaccine free of charge.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the information was disclosed at a press conference held at the EPI auditorium of the district health department. Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdur Razzak announced that the campaign would target all eligible children across the district’s six upazilas. Among the targeted children, 107,837 are boys and 102,432 are girls. Children who have already received vaccines at 9 months and 15 months under the routine immunization programme will also be eligible to receive the vaccine during this campaign.
The civil surgeon further explained that the vaccination drive will be conducted at 1,616 centres across the six upazilas. A total of 4,848 personnel, including one vaccinator and two volunteers at each centre, will be engaged in implementing the campaign. Extensive publicity measures have been undertaken by the district health department to ensure the success of the programme.
Other attendees at the press conference included WHO SIMO Mizanur Rahman, Medical Officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Md Atiur Rahman Sheikh, President of Nilphamari Press Club Manjurul Alam Siam, and its General Secretary Milladur Rahman Mamun.
