Dhaka: A mobile court of the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) on Monday evicted more than 100 illegal shops from roads and footpaths at the Bahaddarhat intersection to clear public spaces of encroachments. The operation aimed to reclaim public areas that had been taken over by unauthorized vendors, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and traffic.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the drive was led by CCC Executive Magistrate Chaiti Sarvabidhya, with support from the Chattogram Metropolitan Police and CCC officials. The collaborative effort ensured the smooth execution of the eviction process, which was part of a broader initiative to address the issue of illegal encroachments in the city.
Speaking after the operation, the magistrate confirmed that more than 100 illegal shops were successfully removed from the roads and footpaths in the Bahaddarhat intersection area. This action has effectively freed up the site from encroachment, allowing for improved pedestrian movement and traffic flow.
