Dhaka: A total of 1,63,028 cases have been so far disposed of through the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) system under the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO) project of the government.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these services were provided from 2009 to August this year. Of the total, 1,61,113 cases were resolved through 64 district legal aid service offices, while 1,915 cases were disposed of through the labourers' legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.
A total of 1,82,172 cases were submitted to the NLASO offices during this period for ADR, with reports indicating that 3,15,530 people have so far benefited from this system. Additionally, 12,82,997 people were provided legal aid services during this time.
The NLASO has been offering legal assistance to the poor and insolvent people of the country at government cost, under the supervision of the Law and Justice Division of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry.
