Bercham:An Orang Asli worker sustained injuries when his right hand became trapped in a meat grinder at a chicken processing factory in the Bercham Light Industrial Area.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the incident occurred today, prompting a swift response from the Perak Fire and Rescue Department. Assistant Director of Operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad reported that a team from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched immediately after receiving a distress call at 441 pm.
The victim, a 19-year-old worker, was found conscious at the scene with his hand still caught in the machine. To alleviate his pain during the rescue operation, assistance from the Ministry of Health (MOH) medical team was requested to sedate his hand.
Efforts to free the victim's hand involved the use of special cutter-spreader equipment to reach the blade mold section of the grinder. However, due to the stainless steel material of the blade mold and the victim's deteriorating condition, his hand could not be extricated on-site.
Subsequently, after consultations with the MOH team, the decision was made to transport the victim to Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun for further medical treatment.
