Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asserted that the opposition has begun to align itself with the rhetoric of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. Speaking at an event organized at Rangpur Shilpakala Academy, Fakhrul emphasized the urgency of resolving the ongoing gas crisis, which has been a pressing issue for the nation.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Fakhrul mentioned that the opposition is now echoing Hasina's call for swift resolutions to national problems, particularly the gas crisis. He stressed that while immediate solutions are being sought, patience is required from the public to allow the government time to address these challenges effectively. Fakhrul criticized the previous administration, referring to it as a 'fascist government' responsible for the deterioration of the country's sole gas-producing company.
The minister further highlighted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's vision to transform the northern region into an agriculture-based industrial zone, urging public cooperation in realizing this developmental plan. Fakhrul also addressed the economic impact of the US-Iran conflict, noting a rise in essential goods prices as a consequence.
The event was attended by notable figures including Ambassador Mushfiqur Fazal Ansarey, Rangpur Development Authority Chairman Md Shamsuzzaman Shamu, reserved women's seat MP Rejeka Sultana Fancy, Zila Parishad Administrator Saiful Islam, and Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin, among other senior officials.
