DHAKA: The number of online income tax return submissions in Bangladesh has surpassed one million, while registrations for online return filing have exceeded 1.6 million, signaling a significant shift towards digital tax services.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) has facilitated this transition by enabling taxpayers to submit their income tax returns for the tax year 2024-2025 through the website www.etaxnbr.gov.bd. The platform allows individuals to easily submit returns, download and print copies of submitted returns, receipts, income tax certificates, and Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) certificates.

Taxpayers are also benefiting from the convenience of paying taxes and adjusting tax refunds through internet banking, card payments, and mobile banking. The NBR has ensured continuous support for taxpayers, offering assistance through a call center and email services around the clock, as stated in an NBR release.

Efforts to make the e-Return Registration process more user-friendly have been implemented. Taxpayers need a Biometric SIM registered with their National Identity Card to register successfully. The Revenue Board has also introduced special measures for individuals who, despite having a National Identity Card, are unable to obtain a Biometric Mobile SIM due to fingerprint issues, thus ensuring broader accessibility to the e-Return System.
