Dhaka: The number of online income tax return filings has crossed six lakhs amidst growing interest and voluntary participation among taxpayers to comply with the rules and avoid the hassles of visiting tax offices. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the number of registrations for online income tax return filing has crossed 13 lakh using the e-return option of the www.etaxnbr.gov.bd portal, showcasing a significant voluntary participation. A press release issued today by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) highlighted these figures and urged all taxpayers to file returns online for smooth filing and hassle-free services. In an effort to facilitate the filing and payment of income tax returns for the tax year 2024-2025, the NBR has already opened its online return filing system for taxpayers. This initiative allows individual taxpayers to easily and quickly prepare and file their returns online using the NBR website. Through this system, taxpayers can pay taxes via internet banking, card payments ( debit/credit), and mobile banking. They also have the facility to download and print copies of filed returns, receipts, income tax certificates, TIN certificates, and avail adjustments of tax refunds. Additionally, users can download and print e-Returns filed for previous years. To further support taxpayers, the NBR has established a call centre to assist with any e-Return related issues. Taxpayers can receive immediate telephonic solutions to their queries by calling the call centre on 09643 7171 71 during office hours. Moreover, any problems related to e-Return can be reported through email via the e-Tax Service option on the website, www.etaxnbr.gov.bd, where issues are resolved promptly. The e-Return registration process has also become more user-friendly with several changes made to the portal, including an upgrade to the registration system, making the e-Return system more accessible and efficient for taxpayers.
