Kurigram: A man was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Chinai area on the Kurigram-Rangpur highway in Sadar upazila of the district today. The deceased was identified as Ayub Ali, 55, son of Soleya Chowkidar of Fakirpara village in Sadar upazila.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the accident occurred when a sand-laden truck collided head-on with a battery-run auto-rickshaw in the area. Ayub, a passenger of the auto-rickshaw, was killed on the spot, and two others were left injured. Locals quickly responded by rescuing the injured individuals and transporting them to Kurigram General Hospital, where they are reported to be in critical condition.
The truck involved in the tragic incident was seized by locals. Officer-in-Charge of Razarhat Police Station Mamunur Rashid confirmed the incident and indicated that legal action would be pursued in connection with the accident.
