One Killed, Two Injured in Collision on Khulna-Mongla Highway

Bagerhat: One person was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle on the Khulna-Mongla highway in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat today. The deceased has been identified as Quader Faraji, aged 52, a resident of Bavna village in Fakirhat upazila of Bagerhat district and the son of Abu Bakkar Siddique. The accident occurred at around 9:15 am on Wednesday in the Chulkati area of the highway.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police and local sources reported that the motorcycle overturned when a speeding truck from the Khulna direction collided head-on with it. The motorcycle driver, Quader Faraji, died on the spot, while the other two riders were seriously injured.



The injured were rescued and rushed to the Bagerhat 250-bed District Hospital, but their identities were not immediately known. Fakirhat Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Zafar informed BSS that police reached the spot after the accident, recovered the body of the deceased, and sent it to the Bagerhat District Hospital morgue for autopsy.



He added that the two vehicles involved in the accident have been seized, and legal action is in process. Locals mentioned that accidents frequently occur on the Khulna-Mongla highway due to excessive speed and reckless driving, and they demanded increased surveillance and strict enforcement of traffic laws on the highway.
