Gobindaganj: A bicycle rider was tragically killed in a road accident in the Shapmara union parishad area under Shapmara union of Gobindaganj upazila in the district this noon. The victim has been identified as Samsul Islam, 56, son of Abu Bakar Siddique of Shapmara village under the union.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, police reported that Bicyclist Samsul Islam was carrying a child to Kamdia bazar from Khamarpara upazila at the time of the incident. As they reached the Shapmara union parishad area, the child unexpectedly leaped off the bicycle. This sudden action caused Samsul Islam to lose control of the bicycle, leading to him being crushed under the wheels of a rice-laden truck, resulting in his immediate death.
Officer in charge of Gobindaganj Thana, Bulbul Islam, confirmed the incident.
