Dinajpur: A truck driver lost his life and four others sustained injuries in a head-on collision between two cargo trucks on the Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway in Birampur upazila this afternoon. The incident unfolded in front of Bijul Girls’ High School near Bijul Bazar.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the deceased, identified as Rashidul Islam, 35, was a resident of Sheikhpura village in Dinajpur Sadar upazila. The crash happened around 3.30 pm, causing significant disruptions in the area.
Local residents, along with police, responded promptly, rescuing the injured individuals and transporting them to Birampur Upazila Health Complex. Due to the critical condition of two of the injured, they were later transferred to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
Inspector Ali Iftekhar, Officer-in-Charge of Birampur Police Station, confirmed the occurrence of the accident and the subsequent rescue operations.
