Police in a drive arrested a man and seized 18 gold bars, weighing 2,100 kg from Bakal Bridge in Sadar upazila of Satkhira district on Monday.
The arrestee was identified as Md Mithu, 27, son of Shawkat Ali of the upazila.
Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and intercepted Mithu while he was crossing the area by a motorbike in the afternoon, said Additional Superintendent of Satkhira Police Sajeeb Khan.
Later, they seized a packet containing 18 gold bars from under the seat of the motorbike.
Police also seized the motorbike.
The market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 1.53 crore.
