Members of Rapid Action Battalion
(RAB) arrested a man for allegedly blackmailing a woman from Chapainawabganj
sadar upazila yesterday afternoon.
The arrested person was identified as Md. Shahjahan Ali, 45, of Morapagla
Fatapara under Sundarpur union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila.
RAB sources said an operation team of the RAB-5 from Chapainawabganj camp, on
detective information, conducted a raid in Morapagla area around 5 pm and
nabbed arrested Shahjahan.
Later, the elite force handed him over to the police of Sadar Thana with a
case.
According to the sources, the arrested person, during his remaining in abroad
two years ago, made affairs with a married woman through social media and
took obscene video. When it was disclosed to her husband, their conjugal
relation broke, RAB sources said.
Later, the accused demanded money from the victim by threatening to circulate
the video on social media and realised Taka 1.5 lakh from the victim woman
and also compelled her to make physical relation, the sources said, adding:
"After rejecting the offer of reconciliation of the victim's family as she
remarried two months ago, Shahjahan spread the video on social media using a
fake ID."
Being informed, RAB arrested him with his mobile phone which was used in this
purpose, the sources further mentioned.
