Teknaf: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested a youth from the Teknaf area of the district for smuggling Yaba in his stomach. Commanding Officer (CO) of the 2nd Battalion of the BGB, Lieutenant Colonel Ashiqur Rahman, reported that Zahidullah, 19, was apprehended after attempting to flee from an auto rickshaw when challenged by BGB personnel. He was caught red-handed from the Teknaf Sadar Hospital area on Monday afternoon.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BGB officials became suspicious of Zahidullah’s abnormal behavior and took him to a hospital. An X-ray revealed the presence of substances in his stomach. Zahidullah later confessed to having 2,000 Yaba tablets within 40 small packets in his stomach. These were subsequently recovered using a special technique.

The BGB CO noted that Zahidullah is a professional drug smuggler who has been involved in drug trading for a long time. The arrestee, along with the seized Yaba, a mobile phone, and a power bank, was handed over to Teknaf thana. Lawful actions have been taken against him, and similar operations against drugs and smuggling will continue in the area.
