Dhaka: Security and counter-terrorism officials from the French and UK missions in Dhaka met with Rezaul Karim, the Chief of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU), at the ATU Headquarters on Thursday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meetings resulted in an agreement to continue cooperation and exchange experiences and information to combat terrorism. The French delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Christel Fontaine, Deputy Homeland Security Attach© of the French Embassy, while the UK's representation was headed by Sakina Alam, Deputy Head of the UK's Counter Terrorism Department of the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office.
During the meeting with the French officials, the ATU briefed them on their overall activities. The French delegation acknowledged the ATU's work strategy in counter-terrorism efforts. The discussion covered coordination with intelligence agencies and authorities, training programs both locally and internationally, the use of Open Source Intelligence (OSI) tools for monitoring, and initiatives to increase manpower.
Both parties agreed to maintain mutual cooperation and continue exchanging information to strengthen their fight against terrorism. Frederic Inza, another Deputy Homeland Security Attach© of the French Embassy, was also present at the meeting.
