Obstructing Access to Polling Centres a Punishable Offence: EC

Dhaka: The Election Commission (EC) today issued a stern warning that any attempts to obstruct voters’ movement to polling centres, interfere with voting processes, or engage in fraudulent activities during the election period will be treated as punishable offences. This announcement comes as the nation prepares for the 13th National Parliamentary Elections and referendum, which are scheduled to take place tomorrow.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the statement was released by EC Secretariat Director (Public Relations) M. Ruhul Amin Mallik, emphasizing that strict legal action will be taken against anyone involved in such activities. The elections will be conducted across 299 constituencies throughout the country, with voting scheduled from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. The process will utilize traditional ballot papers and transparent ballot boxes to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
