Patuakhali: State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Haque Nur today urged the public to refrain from blaming the current government for the ongoing power and energy crisis, labeling it a national problem. "There is some crisis in the country's energy and power sectors. This is a national crisis. However, the current government did not create this crisis," he stated during a media briefing following an inspection of the Patuakhali Export Processing Zone (EPZ) project.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the state minister called on all political entities, including both government and opposition parties, to exercise responsibility in handling the situation post-July. He emphasized the importance of constructive discourse and warned against taking actions that could exacerbate the crisis. "There could be discussions and criticism on matters of policy. However, no programme should be taken that could put the country in a major crisis," he cautioned.
Nurul Haque expressed optimism about the country's future, asserting that significant progress could be achieved over the next five years. He acknowledged that while not everything might change completely within this period, substantial advancements toward the right path were possible. On the issue of corruption and accountability, he highlighted the government's firm stance and ongoing efforts to combat corruption.
The minister also mentioned that the government's primary goal is to deliver services to citizens and ensure public welfare. He revealed that a cell had been established at the Prime Minister's Office to evaluate the necessity of various development projects at the local level, ensuring that decisions regarding new projects are made judiciously and only after thorough scrutiny.
