Dhaka: National University (NU) will offer the 'July Martyred Memorial Scholarship' for students from various colleges under its umbrella. The scholarship is established in memory of the martyrs from the anti-discrimination students' movement during July and August of the previous year, as stated in an office order released by the university today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus will distribute the scholarship cheques at his office located in Tejgaon on July 1. Additionally, he will inaugurate a 36-day series of programs commemorating the July uprising anniversary, set to run from July 1 to August 5.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar, and several private media outlets will broadcast the inaugural event live. This initiative is aimed at ensuring that the martyrs' contributions remain 'unforgettable' and at inspiring students with patriotism by emphasizing their sacrifice.
The martyrs, who laid down their lives during the July-August uprising, have provided a significant example of patriotism during a critical period in the country's history.
