Dhaka: The National University (NU) is set to collaborate with the City University of New York (CUNY) and City College of New York (CCNY) to advance research in artificial intelligence, big data analytics, climate change, remote sensing, and waste management.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the partnership will extend to online training programs, joint degree initiatives, research collaborations, and exposure tours for students, faculty, and officials. These elements were highlighted in a press release following a recent visit to the United States by NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah, where discussions were held with CCNY President Vincent Boudreau.
The meeting, attended by the dean and senior officials of CCNY, underscored the potential for creating valuable research opportunities in the fields of Geography, Environmental Sciences, Public Health, Science, Commerce, and Social Sciences. Professor Amanullah emphasized the importance of this collaboration in enhancing educational prospects for both NU and other institutions in Bangladesh.
Professor Amanullah also addressed the financial challenges facing higher education, urging societal investment and highlighting the pivotal role that alumni can play. He noted that many NU alumni hold significant positions globally, and an initiative is underway to unify them through the formation of the National University Alumni group.
