Notun Kuri Sports Competition Aims to Discover Grassroots Talent: Land Minister

Rajshahi: Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu has announced the initiation of the Notun Kuri Sports Competition, aimed at discovering and nurturing talented players from the grassroots level. The minister emphasized the importance of identifying hidden sports talents among children and adolescents and providing them with proper training.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the competition’s inaugural ceremony at Rajshahi’s Muktijuddho Smriti Stadium. He highlighted Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s commitment to making sports accessible to people across the nation. Such initiatives, he noted, are expected to produce talented athletes from every region.

The minister stressed that sports play a crucial role in the physical and mental development of children, urging parents to motivate their children to engage in sports alongside their academic pursuits. He expressed optimism that some of today’s competitors would grow into future national and international athletes.

The regional-level competition was organized by the Divisional Administration and the District Sports Office. The stadium was abuzz with excitement as children from various schools, dressed in uniforms, participated in the event, while parents and spectators filled the stands. The venue was adorned with national flags, banners, festoons, and sports decorations, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid presided over the inaugural function, and local MP Abu Sayeed Chand attended as a special guest.
