Dhaka: Police have arrested an alleged mugger known for snatching belongings, such as mobile phones and wallets, from passengers and drivers in moving vehicles at Jatrabari in the capital. The suspect has been identified as Md Aminul Islam, aged 24. Additional details about Aminul were not immediately available following the arrest.
According to United News of Bangladesh, a police team from Jatrabari Police Station, acting on a tip-off, conducted a targeted operation in the area at around 7:30 pm on Wednesday. Utilizing information technology, they successfully apprehended Aminul. The police confirmed that multiple cases of snatching had been filed against him, further highlighting his notoriety in the area.
During the preliminary interrogation, Aminul confessed to his involvement in a series of snatching incidents. He admitted to targeting passengers of moving buses and microbuses in Jatrabari and its vicinity, adding to the challenges faced by commuters in the area. The arrest marks a significant step in addressing the issue of theft and enhancing safety for residents and travelers around Jatrabari.
