Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today clarified that no candidate has been given a green signal for the party’s nomination to contest the upcoming national parliamentary elections. Rizvi made this announcement during a press conference at the BNP central office, emphasizing that the nominations would be based on the candidates’ performance in party activities rather than any pre-approved signals.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi further explained that the BNP is making comprehensive preparations for the forthcoming national elections. The party intends to select candidates through a constitutional process that prioritizes their popularity and acceptability among the public. The final list of candidates will be announced by the party’s acting chairman after the election schedule is declared.

Rizvi highlighted the role of the Parliamentary Board in nominating candidates for national parliamentary or other elections, stating that the board’s decision is final. He urged party leaders and activists not to be swayed by speculative reports in newspapers or social media, advising them to wait for an official announcement from the party’s central command, led by the acting chairman, once the election schedule is announced.

Addressing recent reports suggesting that certain BNP candidates had received a green signal, Rizvi dismissed these claims as false propaganda. He accused some media outlets of engaging in deliberate misinformation to create division within the party. Rizvi criticized these outlets for publishing fabricated lists of nominated candidates, which he said were intended to cause confusion and unrest among BNP members.

Rizvi reiterated the acting chairman’s call for unity among party activists, noting that Tarique Rahman is providing specific instructions for collaboration in each area. He stressed the importance of maintaining unity and engaging in public-oriented activities, predicting that such efforts would lead to electoral success for the party.

The acting chairman has advised leaders and activists to conduct door-to-door campaigns across the country, presenting the party’s 31-point charter of liberation to the public. Rizvi conveyed that Rahman has instructed potential candidates to strengthen their unity and foster a more people-friendly approach.
