Dhaka:Information and Broadcasting Minister Barrister Andaleeve Rahman stated that the Awami League cannot re-enter politics without addressing the events of July. The minister emphasized the necessity of acknowledging the uprising, issuing an apology, and ensuring justice for those involved in the incidents.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Barrister Rahman highlighted that these steps are crucial for the public to consider whether the Awami League should be granted an opportunity to return to the political scene. He made these remarks while answering questions from journalists during a visit to various areas of the upazila.
The minister pointed out that the younger generation, particularly those aged 15 to 35, had experienced the political developments orchestrated by the Awami League over the past 17 years, including significant events in 2024. He noted that many from this demographic were directly involved in these events, either through street protests or social media engagement, making it challenging for the Awami League to stage a political comeback solely by crafting a new narrative.
During the visit, leaders and activists from the district unit of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) and its affiliated organizations accompanied Minister Rahman.
