Dhaka: BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi today warned that there would be no leniency for anyone committing crimes using the party's name. He emphasized that no BNP activist or leader is involved in anti-social or anti-state activities, and actions against such misuse of the party's name would be strict.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rizvi made these remarks while addressing journalists at the BNP's central office in Nayapaltan. He urged the media to present truthful and objective reports, highlighting that a single false story can lead to significant confusion and instability within the state and society.
The veteran BNP leader expressed concern over the tendency of some to blame the BNP whenever incidents occur. He referred to a recent case in Raozan, Chattogram, where terrorists were arrested with weapons. Rizvi criticized certain media outlets for claiming, without evidence, that those individuals were BNP members. He noted that organizational action had been taken against senior leaders in Raozan on various allegations.
Rizvi reiterated the political struggle of the BNP, stating that the party has been fighting against 15 years of oppression and injustice, culminating in the July Uprising. He concluded by asserting that ensuring public safety is the government's responsibility, warning that failure to do so could lead to accidents or social unrest.
