No Irregularities Will Be Tolerated in Boro Procurement Drive: Jahangir Alam

Dinajpur: Member of Parliament for Dinajpur-3 constituency Syed Jahangir Alam today declared that no irregularities would be tolerated in the ongoing Boro paddy and rice procurement drive in the district. He made this statement during the inauguration ceremony of the Boro paddy and rice procurement program at the CSD warehouse in the town around 4:30 pm on Sunday.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Jahangir Alam emphasized that the government has undertaken steps to ensure the smooth execution of the Iri-Boro paddy and rice procurement campaign throughout the district, paralleling efforts across the country. Farmers will have the opportunity to sell paddy directly to the government by applying through mobile apps within the timeframe specified by the Food Department. Additionally, rice will be purchased from enlisted millers at prices set by the government.



The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam. Other notable attendees included District Food Controller Md. Monirul Islam, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Tamalika Pal, Dinajpur Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Alhaj Md. Abu Bakar Siddique, Rice Mill Owners Group President Md. Nuruzzaman Sarkar, and General Secretary Mosaddek Hossain Chowdhury.



According to Food Department sources, the government has established procurement prices at Taka 36 per kilogram for paddy and wheat, Taka 48 for Atap rice, and Taka 49 for boiled rice. The procurement goal for the district this season is set at 93,719 tonnes of boiled rice, 11,352 tonnes of Atap rice, and 12,267 tonnes of Boro paddy. Officials have stated that procurement activities in Dinajpur are scheduled to continue from May 20 until August 31.
