Dhaka: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has announced an exemption on income tax for fees, hotel rents, meals, and airfares for foreign doctors who are in Bangladesh to treat individuals injured during the anti-discrimination student movement. This initiative aims to support the international medical professionals offering their services in the wake of the July uprising.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the NBR issued an official notification today stating the tax exemption. The decision has been made under the Income Tax Acts 2023, as mentioned in the notification. This tax relief is intended to facilitate the stay and work of foreign medical experts by easing their financial burdens related to taxation during their humanitarian mission in Bangladesh.
