Satkhira: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman announced today that no 'ghost cases' have been filed in Bangladesh after August 5, 2024. Speaking to journalists following a coordination meeting on law and order, drug control, corruption, and governance in Satkhira, the minister emphasized that police have not initiated any politically motivated 'ghost cases' as plaintiffs over the past two years.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister clarified that if a victim or their family files a case, the police are obligated to investigate. He stressed that the law does not grant the police the authority to refuse registering a case. The minister also highlighted collaborative efforts by the Coast Guard and other authorities to combat piracy in the Sundarbans and curb smuggling of drugs, arms, and gold.
Addressing the implementation of the July Charter, the minister affirmed the government's commitment to executing it in line with constitutional amendments. He expressed hope for cooperation from the opposition in this constitutional process, stating there are "no ifs and buts" regarding the charter's implementation.
The coordination meeting was chaired by Satkhira Deputy Commissioner Kawsar Aziz and attended by several key figures, including Izzat Ullah, MP for Satkhira-1, Abdul Khalek, MP for Satkhira-2, Robiul Bashar, MP for Satkhira-3, and Khulna Range DIG Mostafizur Rahman, among others.
