Rangpur: Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud announced that the upcoming national polls will be conducted without any election engineering, asserting that a supportive environment exists for the process. "We are going to different places. Some 1.8 million officials and employees including returning officers, assistant returning officers, police force, BGB, army, Ansar-VDP are engaged in election works. All committed to giving the nation a good election," he stated during a meeting at Rangpur Circuit House.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Election Commissioner exchanged views with local journalists as the chief guest at the event marking the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Election and Referendum. Present at the meeting were members of various election-related committees and law enforcement officers from the Rangpur district.
The commissioner emphasized that the Election Commission is under no pressure regarding the current situation but highlighted the need for cooperation to facilitate an easy and acceptable election. He urged the public to engage in activities that promote a fair election environment and stated that movements detrimental to the election are not supported.
Abdur Rahmanel also mentioned significant changes in the political environment and voting culture, noting that leaders from the two major parties have honored commitments to maintain fairness. He acknowledged the removal of posters and the cancellation of tours by party leaders who disagree with the commission.
The commissioner remarked that the verbal exchanges between political leaders are part of electoral strategy but condemned all forms of violence and killings, stressing the need for fair investigations, including the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi. The meeting was presided over by Rangpur District Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan, with other prominent officials in attendance.
