Savar: Home Affairs Adviser retired Lieutenant General Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Tuesday assured that there is no doubt the upcoming national election scheduled for February 12 will be free, fair, and impartial. He addressed the media during a visit to a mock polling centre at Tetuljhora High School in Savar.

According to United News of Bangladesh, the mock polling exercise was arranged by the Savar Upazila administration in collaboration with the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), RAB, Ansar, police, Fire Service, village police, and Bangladesh Scouts. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasized the election will be conducted in a free, fair, and neutral manner and dismissed any doubts about its integrity.

He remarked that only a small group is expressing skepticism about the election, noting that these individuals are speaking from abroad after leaving the country. He challenged them to return and express their concerns locally, indicating that such actions would demonstrate their courage.

Jahangir Alam Chowdhury expressed confidence that voters nationwide would participate enthusiastically in the polls, predicting a large turnout that would dispel any confusion spread by those questioning the election’s fairness. He also mentioned plans to change the Rapid Action Battalion’s (RAB) uniform to uphold the force’s dignity.

The event was attended by Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam, and other senior officials.
