Mymensingh: Reiterating the Election Commission’s (EC) commitment to organizing a free, fair, neutral, and peaceful election, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin stated, “There is no possibility of taking place day’s vote at night.” The CEC emphasized that the EC would not engage in any political disputes and that every decision is made based on the collective opinion of all its members, with no unilateral decisions.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the CEC made these remarks during a view-exchange meeting with election officials from the Mymensingh region at the Mymensingh City Corporation auditorium. The meeting’s agenda included updating the voter list and discussing the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election.
In response to queries about the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, Ishraq Hossain, the CEC clarified to journalists that the responsibility of administering the oath lies with the Ministry of Local Government, and the EC has no role in this matter.
The meeting was presided over by Regional Election Officer Shahinur Islam Pramanik, with participation from all upazila election officers from the districts of Mymensingh, Jamalpur, Sherpur, Netrokona, Tangail, and Kishoreganj.
