Dhaka: No bomb or bomb-like objects were found after a comprehensive search was conducted at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) and on a Biman Bangladesh aircraft. The flight, which was traveling from Rome to Dhaka, was subjected to scrutiny following a bomb threat.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, HSIA executive director Group Captain Kamrul Islam confirmed, “As per protocol all baggage items checked. Nothing found. We called off search.” He also mentioned that the airport authorities are in the process of handing over the baggage and facilitating the passengers’ passage.

Earlier, 250 passengers and 13 crew members were evacuated from the aircraft, which landed safely at 9:20 am at HSIA after receiving a bomb threat. The threat, reportedly issued by an unnamed individual, claimed the presence of a bomb or explosive substance on the Dhaka-bound flight from Rome.

Further details regarding the nature of the threat and the procedures followed during the search will be communicated to the media, as stated by an airport source.
