Dhaka: Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan on Thursday emphasized that the government will not permit any actions or decisions to be implemented outside the Constitution and established rules. He stated that decisions cannot be accepted under mob pressure and that any incident or crisis will be resolved strictly through constitutional and regulatory procedures. This statement was made in response to a question about the recent removal of the Managing Director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) under mob pressure.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Swapan expressed his regret about the incident involving BSS, describing it as unfortunate. He reiterated that BSS is a government institution, and all processes related to appointments, confirmations, or terminations must adhere to established rules. The recent developments at BSS will be addressed according to these rules after thorough discussions.

The minister also commented on the dismissal of several reporters from a private television channel, noting that he has only heard about the issue. He mentioned his intention to speak with both the journalists and the channel’s owners to better understand the situation and to explore whether an amicable solution could be reached through a system.

Swapan concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to building a grievance-free Bangladesh while always operating within the constitutional framework.
