Dhaka:Nine individuals have succumbed to dengue in the last 24 hours, while 1,982 people have been hospitalized due to infections from the mosquito-borne disease within the same timeframe.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, these recent fatalities have increased the national dengue death toll to 409 for the current year, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Among the newly admitted dengue patients, 816 are from Dhaka Division, 84 from Mymensingh Division, 313 from Chattogram Division, 214 from Khulna Division, 217 from Rajshahi Division, 116 from Rangpur Division, 194 from Barishal Division, and 28 from Sylhet Division.
The report also indicates that a total of 130,219 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country this year. Of those, 123,605 patients have recovered and returned home after receiving medical treatment.
In comparison, last year saw 102,861 dengue infections and 413 deaths due to the disease.
