Dhaka:Nine dengue patients died in the last 24 hours till 800 am today, while 1,929 individuals were hospitalised due to the mosquito-borne disease during the same period.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the latest fatalities have increased the country's dengue death toll to 427 this year, as reported by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the newly-hospitalized dengue patients, 831 were in Dhaka Division, 92 in Mymensingh Division, 257 in Chattogram Division, 259 in Khulna Division, 185 in Rajshahi Division, 73 in Rangpur Division, 213 in Barishal Division, and 19 in Sylhet Division.
The report indicates that a total of 136,929 dengue patients have been hospitalized across the country this year. So far, 130,388 dengue patients have recovered and returned home after receiving treatment in hospitals.
Last year, 102,861 people were infected with dengue, and 413 people succumbed to the disease.
