Dhaka: Nine dengue patients died while 1,214 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the past 24 hours ending this morning. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the total number of dengue cases this year has risen to 84,368, with 434 deaths reported so far, as stated in a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS). The alarming figures highlight the ongoing struggle to contain the spread of the disease. Last year, the country faced an even more severe outbreak, with 1,705 deaths and a total of 321,179 dengue-related cases. This comparison underscores a significant drop in both cases and fatalities this year, although the current numbers remain a cause for concern among health authorities. The DGHS continues to monitor the situation closely and urges citizens to take preventive measures to mitigate the spread of dengue.
