Dhaka:Police have apprehended nine individuals and recovered two truckloads of stolen goods related to the vandalism and looting at the Radda MCH-FP Centre in Mirpur.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the officer-in-charge of Shah Ali Police Station, Jahangir Alam, has been withdrawn and reassigned to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Headquarters due to the incident. This decision was confirmed by Akhtar Hossain, the Deputy Commissioner of Media and Public Relations for the DMP, citing administrative reasons for the withdrawal.
The arrests followed raids conducted by Shah Ali Police Station across various locations. The operation led to the recovery of medical equipment and other materials stolen from the healthcare facility. However, the identities of those arrested have not been disclosed.
The incident occurred late Thursday night when a masked group of approximately 250 people attacked the 50-year-old healthcare centre located in Mirpur-1. They vandalized the facility and made off with medical equipment, medicines, official records, and cash before occupying the premises illegally. A case regarding the incident has been filed with Shah Ali Police Station.
