Nilphamari to Host Second Phase of Rangpur Divisional Book Cycle

Nilphamari: The three-day second phase of the ‘Rangpur Divisional Book Cycle’ is set to take place in Nilphamari from February 21, 2026, aiming to further promote book reading among the youth and encourage a book-oriented culture.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, this announcement was made during a preparatory views-exchange meeting held at the Public Library in Nilphamari town. The meeting, which took place on Friday, focused on various aspects of the upcoming programme, following the successful completion of the first phase in Dinajpur.



The meeting was presided over by Shakil Masud, the supervisor and founder of the Idea Library of Rangpur. It saw the participation of key figures such as Md Shahidul Haque, the Assistant Librarian of Nilphamari District Government Public Library, organizer Md Habib Ullah Biswas, and Abdul Momin, President of the Nilphamari District unit of the National Association of Small and Cottage Industries of Bangladesh (NASCIB). Lyricist Nilratan Sarkar also addressed the gathering.



On this occasion, the convening committee for the Nilphamari unit of the Book Circle was established. Shakil Masud will serve as the supervisor, with Akhtaruzzaman Munna as the convener and Shakil Islam as the member-secretary. Other committee members include Abdullah Al Mamun, Maisha Poppy, Afroza Akter Mimi, and several others.



The full programme for the second phase in Nilphamari will be announced soon. The speakers highlighted that the book circle is more than just reading books; it is a cultural gathering for book-loving students. The event will include book fairs, seminars, quiz competitions, and free book exchange programmes to expand the practice of reading and promote regional literature, history, and traditions. They expressed optimism that this initiative will foster a greater interest in reading among the youth.
