Dhaka: The license for the newly formed 'Sommilito Islami Bank PLC' was officially handed over today. This significant event marks a new chapter in the banking sector of Bangladesh.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the approval for the bank's license was granted during a meeting of the Board of Directors of Bangladesh Bank on Sunday. The formal handover ceremony took place after representatives from the Ministry of Finance met with Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank, to finalize the proceedings.
The license was officially transferred by Bayezid Sarker, Director of the Department of Banking Regulation and Policy. Md. Azimuddin Biswas, NDC, Additional Secretary, and Sheikh Farid, Joint Secretary, accepted the license on behalf of Nazma Mobarek, Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance.
The ceremony saw the presence of several senior officials from the central bank, including Dr. Md. Kabir Ahammed, Deputy Governor, and officials from the Governor's Office, alongside Governor Dr. Mansur.
