New CAG pays homage to Bangabandhu

Newly appointed Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of Bangladesh Md Nurul Islam today paid tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He paid the tribute by placing a floral wreath at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi-32 in the city this afternoon, said a press release here.

After placing the wreath, Nurul Islam, in his speech, paid tributes to Father of the Nation and his martyred family members, and all martyrs of the Liberation War and said, “Bangladesh means Bangabandhu, Bangabandhu means Bangladesh”.

Being imbued with the spirit of Bangabandhu and the Liberation War, he said, Audit and Accounts Department will work relentlessly.

Officials of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Office were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique administered the oath to the new CAG Md Nurul Islam at the Supreme Court Judges Lounge here on Wednesday.

The government on July 13 appointed Md Nurul Islam as the new CAG of Bangladesh. The president made the appointment as per the Article 127 (1) of the Constitution.
