Savar: Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter today emphasized the creation of a new Bangladesh that honors the sacrifices made by the deceased and injured July warriors. “The July warriors did not join the anti-discrimination movement for their personal gains,” she stated during the “July Upsurge Revival, Reminiscence and Discussion-2025” at Gano Biswabidyalaya, Savar, where she served as the chief guest.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the event was chaired by Prof Nilufar Sultana, Dean of the Arts and Social Science Faculty of the university, and featured Prof Dr Md Abul Hossain, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, as the special guest. Farida Akhter highlighted that the thoughts of the July warriors were noble, driven by love for the country. She remarked, “July is a painful month for us, and the recent Milestone tragedy has intensified our sorrows.”
Farida Akhter reflected on her experiences during last year’s upsurge, where she visited various places and participated in several programs. She praised the courageous and organized participation of Gano Biswabidyalaya students in the movement, attributing their involvement to the leadership of Dr. Zafarullah Chowdhury.
She also underscored the significant role women played during the July movement, noting that their involvement diminished in August. “We have to remember that the movement has not yet ended,” she stated. Farida Akhter urged students to remain vigilant against the strategies of neighboring countries and international fascist forces, emphasizing the importance of political and social awareness.
