Narsingdi: Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain Bokul today emphasized accountability for healthcare professionals, declaring that negligence in services for grassroots people is unacceptable.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the minister made this statement during an unannounced visit to the Palash Upazila Health Complex in Narsingdi this morning. Arriving at 8:30am without prior notice, he aimed to ensure that doctors and staff were punctual and to evaluate the quality of healthcare services provided.
As patients gathered on the hospital grounds, the minister entered the health complex without any formal protocol, immediately checking the attendance register and duty roster to confirm the presence and punctuality of the medical staff. His inspection revealed several absentees according to the duty roster, leading to his evident dissatisfaction.
The minister’s visit extended to the emergency department, pathology laboratory, and outpatient department, where he instructed hospital authorities to maintain cleanliness and ensure sufficient stocks of medicines. Engaging with patients in line, he listened to their concerns, reaffirming his stance that any negligence in healthcare delivery at the grassroots level would not be tolerated.
The visit was attended by Palash Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ishtiaq Ahmed, former vice chairman and Ghorashal Municipality BNP president Alam Molla, and Upazila Family Planning Officer Dr. Atikul Islam.
