Dhaka: Nearly seven lakh students failed this year's SSC and equivalent examinations. A total of 18,29,485 students registered to sit for the examinations this year, and out of them, 11,38,877 passed while 6,90,608 failed.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were published on Monday, with the average pass rate dropping to 62.25 percent. Education Minister Dr. Ehsanul Haque Milon announced the results at a press briefing held at the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education at around 10 am.
The pass rate has seen a decline compared to last year. Last year, the average pass rate in the SSC and equivalent examinations under 11 education boards was 68.45 percent. This year, the pass rate dropped by 6.2 percentage points, marking a significant decrease.
The SSC and equivalent examinations commenced on April 21 and concluded on May 20, involving numerous students across the country. The decline in pass rates has raised concerns among educators and policymakers, prompting discussions on potential reforms and support measures for students.
