Nearly 13 Lakh Babies to Receive Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Capsules in Ctg on March 15

Chattogram: Nearly 13 lakh babies aged six to 59 months will be administered vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules in a day-long campaign on March 15 to prevent all types of diseases including measles, diarrhea, and night blindness. The National Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign-2025 will begin from 8 am and continue uninterruptedly till 4 pm in the city and district on Saturday.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and Civil Surgeon Dr. Jahangir Alam disclosed this at separate press conferences held at their respective offices on Thursday. The civil surgeon’s office stated that vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules will be fed to eight lakh 25 thousand 716 children, while four lakh 70 thousand babies will be administered these capsules by CCC.



Over 500 supervisors of 41 wards under the seven EPI zones in CCC and 859 supervisors in the 14 upazilas of the district will supervise the ‘A’ Plus campaign. A total of 4,831 temporary vaccination centers will be set up by the Civil Surgeon office, and CCC will set up 1,321 temporary centers in 41 wards to carry out the programme.



Over 20,000 volunteers and health workers, including 4,848 by CCC, would be engaged for administering vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules to the children aged from 6 months to 5 years.
