Rangpur: National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen has stated that the party is open to forming alliances in the interest of the nation, aiming to advance Bangladesh. "NCP is preparing to contest the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections in all 300 seats with its own capabilities. We are also open to contesting the elections in an alliance for the interest of the nation and the country," he said.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Akhter made these remarks while speaking to local reporters after an election courtyard meeting in Parul Union of Pirgachha upazila. He mentioned that the NCP is in discussions with various political parties, but no specific decisions have been made. Despite this, Akhter emphasized that the party is diligently preparing for the elections independently.
Akhter highlighted the party's goal of nominating candidates who genuinely consider the people's welfare. He mentioned that a team has been formed to manage the election processes, including the distribution of nomination papers. The NCP plans to release a preliminary list of candidates after November 15.
Addressing questions about the party's stance on the referendum and the implementation of the July Charter, Akhter noted the importance of the government's proper issuance of the July Charter order. He warned that without proper implementation, a referendum alone would not suffice to ensure the Charter's sustainability.
During the courtyard meeting, Akhter criticized the Awami League, accusing it of committing atrocities against the citizens of Bangladesh. He stressed the need for a systematic approach to governance to curb irregularities and corruption, claiming that national resources have been smuggled abroad instead of being used for development.
Akhter assured that if the NCP comes to power, public funds will be managed transparently, and laws will be enacted for public welfare. He pledged to establish public service centers in rural areas, ensure medical services for all, and distribute various allowances with dignity.
