Narayanganj: National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer for Southern Region, Hasnat Abdullah, today announced that the party is considering forming alliances with groups that advocate for national reforms. He emphasized that NCP will not collaborate with entities that hinder the country's reform efforts.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Hasnat Abdullah expressed the party's willingness to join forces with those supporting reforms, resisting foreign dominance, and promoting communal harmony. He made these remarks during the inauguration of the NCP district office in Chashar of Narayanganj, outlining the party's stance on potential alliances.
Hasnat Abdullah reiterated the position of NCP convener Nahid Islam, stating that alliances will only be pursued with pro-reform groups. He also mentioned that the full candidate list for the national election will be released by the third week of the month, with November 15 highlighted as a significant date by Nahid Islam.
Addressing the need for reforms, Hasnat stressed the importance of returning to a democratic system through fair elections. He cautioned against election manipulation, such as arbitrary district divisions or excessive police control, which could undermine public empowerment. The goal, he stated, is to ensure genuine empowerment for the people.
Commenting on the Awami League, Hasnat Abdullah remarked that the party has become irrelevant in the country's political landscape. He criticized attempts to legitimize the party, suggesting that recent events reveal it was never truly representative of the people. He argued that those endorsing the party are, in effect, legitimizing acts of violence.
In addition, Hasnat Abdullah criticized the local political scenario in Narayanganj, noting that the city's political heritage has been tarnished by 'godfather' politics. He affirmed NCP's commitment to preserving the city's political legacy and protecting citizens' rights.
The event was chaired by NCP central Joint Secretary Abdullah Al Amin and included addresses by central organizer Shawkat Ali, Central Member Ahmedur Rahman Tanu, and Senior Joint Convener of Jatiya Jubo Shakti Tuhin Khan.
