Kushtia: National Citizens Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has emphasized that the party is aligning its political strategy with the path shown by Abrar Fahad, focusing on pro-Bangladesh sentiment, opposition to Indian aggression, and resistance to Delhi’s hegemony. This statement was made during a visit to Fahad’s grave on the eighth day of their month-long July March, which calls for justice, reforms, and a new constitution.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Nahid Islam accused the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of brutally torturing and killing Abrar Fahad for his stance against Indian aggression and his advocacy for the welfare of Bangladesh’s people. Nahid asserted that Fahad’s actions were centered on national interests and criticized Indian interference.
Nahid also recalled the 2019 anti-Delhi hegemony movement, initiated in response to Fahad’s killing, as a pivotal moment in NCP’s fight against fascism. The movement was described as a significant milestone in their ongoing struggle.
He further stated that the NCP aims to foster pro-Bangladesh politics by honoring the spirit of those who have faced disappearances, murders, and torture over the past 16 years. Nahid emphasized the party’s commitment to establishing a sovereign and dignified Bangladesh through anti-fascist movements.
The NCP launched its ‘Desh Garte July Padayatra’ (July March for building Bangladesh) on July 1, with plans to continue the initiative until July 30. The march reached Kushtia on its eighth day, where the party paid homage to Abrar Fahad, who died at the hands of Chhatra League activists on October 6, 2019, due to his protest against an unfair agreement between Bangladesh and India and New Delhi’s water aggression.
