Dhaka: The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its plan to contest in all 300 constituencies in the upcoming national election, utilizing the 'Shapla Koli' (water lily bud) as its election symbol. This decision underscores the party's focus on national interests, as emphasized by the Chief Coordinator, Nasiruddin Patwari.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Patwari addressed reporters following a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital. He stated, "We are taking the Shapla Koli symbol and will nominate candidates in all 300 constituencies with the symbol." Patwari expressed optimism about the electoral contest, predicting a close race between the 'Shapla Koli' and the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbols in the upcoming election.
The announcement follows the Election Commission's publication of a gazette on October 30, which listed 119 electoral symbols for registered political parties and independent candidates, including the Shapla Koli.
