Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is preparing to hold the upcoming NCL T20 tournament across at least three venues, following positive feedback from all stakeholders during the previous season.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BCB organized last year’s tournament exclusively for local players at a single venue in Sylhet. This was intended to help players hone their skills ahead of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The success of the event has prompted the BCB to expand the number of venues for the upcoming season.
BCB chief co-ordinator of programme Minhajul Abedin Nannu shared insights with reporters, stating, “Last year the tournament was organized hurriedly. This time we chose three venues to host the second edition of the tournament. Tournament committee has already asked the grounds committee to select those three venues.”
While the itinerary for the tournament is not yet disclosed, it is expected to take place from September 15 to October 4. Minhajul added, “As far as I am co
ncerned, the NCL T20 will start from the second week of September.”
As in the previous year, the tournament will feature a total of eight teams, representing seven divisional cities and Dhaka Metro. It has been officially recognized as an official T20 tournament.
