Dhaka:The National Curriculum Coordination Committee (NCC) has approved four new textbooks for Classes IV and VI for the 2027 academic year, pending necessary revisions.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the newly approved books include 'Sports' and 'Bangladesh Culture' for Class IV, and 'Learning with Happiness' and 'Amar Karigori Shikkha' for Class VI. These approvals were finalized during separate NCC meetings held at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital.

The meeting focused on the Class IV textbooks featured Primary and Mass Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon as the chief guest, with State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Gias Uddin Rimon attending as special guests. Chaired by Primary and Mass Education Secretary Jesmin Nahar, the meeting also included the presence of Chief Information Commissioner Professor Dr Nahreen Islam Khan, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M Saleh (Saleh Shibli), and other committee members.

For Class VI textbooks, a separate meeting was held with Milon again serving as the chief guest. This meeting was chaired by Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary Abdul Khaleque. The initiative to introduce these textbooks was taken by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) in alignment with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman's vision to make education more engaging and rooted in moral values.

Curriculum experts have expressed that the new books aim to move away from traditional rote learning and exam-focused education, instead promoting a more engaging and practical approach that is relevant to students' everyday lives. These changes are expected to aid in the development of practical skills and moral values among students.
